Blotcked drains causing road damage

Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain: Blockage inside drain category anonymously at 21:55, Sat 9 December 2023

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 5301061.

Reported this in April this year. Council ref: 4390391 and again in November Council ref: 5194604. Nothing has been done and we are getting flooding in the road and potholes are being made worse. Here is my original report - nothing has changed. The drain opposite no 13 Stockwood Vale is blocked and the water from higher up the road is coming out of this drain and running down the road. This was reported earlier in the year but whatever you did has not worked. I believe the actual drain pipe is blocked/collapsed between this drain and the next one down. Further down the drain opposite no 5 is completely filled with stones and mud, so water flows across top. This flooding is also causing potholes to develop where the fast flowing flood water is washing the road surface away. This happened earlier this year when the road flooded due to the same blocked drain and caused potholes that you came and filled, however without sorting the drain problem out you are wasting time and money filling in potholes when the next bad rain will cause more. One of your highway inspectors phoned me after the November report and said the main problem was due to heavy rain the stream where the drains flows into was flooded and stopped the drains working. I see what he was saying but I stand by my original comments that the actual drain is blocked/collapsed. The photo I attached were taken three days after it had stopped raining and all flooding further along and in Old Bristol Road. As can be seen water is still coming out of the drain opposite number 15 flowing along the road (causing more potholes) and the flowing over the blocked drain opposite no. 5. further down the road the water flows away down an unblocked drain. As I said earlier the water flowing down the road is damaging the road surface quite badly. Finally - we are now into winter and if this is not fixed before we sub zero conditions the road will be come an ice rink and extremely dangerous for cars and pedestrains.
