Continued Flooding outside our property
Reported via desktop in the Flooding of a road or pavement category by Tom Moy at 11:59, Wednesday 3 January 2024
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 4 minutes later. Council ref: 5386240.
The drains outside our property are either continuously blocked or damaged as anytime there is a little bit of rain the road floods. Which means vehicles find it difficult to access the road. The last week has been very bad and the water has not dissipated at all. The drain needs to be modified on the far side of the road to allow water to drain away in the drainage ditch on the other side of the hedge. This problem has been raised on numerous occasions over the last few years. The road is a busy thorough fare for traffic of all sizes and flooding means, a) we cannot get out of our property and b) large vehicles dispersing dirty water all over our property. I would be very grateful for the council to rectify this situation.

This flooding continues to be an issue. The flood has not dissipated for months now. The drains have yet to be cleaned or improved. I have had to dig a small channel in the side of the verge on the opposite side of the road to allow at least the very worst water to drain away. (This is not a proper solution). Yet after every rainfall the flood covers the expanse of the road again and again. Due to this issue the hedge between our property and the road is dying, with polluted road water being constantly propelled against it by vehicles that drive too quickly through the standing water. Please can you come and rectify this situation, clean out the drain and improve the drain system on the opposite side of the road to allow water to run off into fields drainage ditch. I am sure this is a really simple fix, there is a water tanker fill up point 100m down the road at the waterworks, where BANES vehicles fill up daily.
