GP surgery promoting patients to park illegally, blocking personal driveways
Reported via mobile in the Obstruction on road or pavement category anonymously at 15:40, Tuesday 30 January 2024
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 5511363.
The GP surgery takes on too many patients at a given time, then they have parking spaces for these patients. It leads to our street (northampton buildings) being extremely crowded at all times. Everyday patients park on double yellow lines, and block access to homes. On some days, they have a man who stands outside the surgery in a purple coat. Today (and other days in the past) he directs patients to park blocking our homes, and on double yellow lines). As shown in the picture there is currently 3 cars parked blatantly in our cul de sac (which is a functional road which we need to use to get out of our homes, and to turn around in), there is also pictures of people on double yellows. It’s unacceptable and has been a nuisance to us ever since we moved in, in September. Today I physically couldn’t get to my home, and as I drove up I saw the guy in the purple coat direct a woman to park directly on my neighbours driveway (just because they don’t have a car right now, does not make it public domain - i know for a fact they have not given permission for this use).

There is also a problem with parking on pavements (as can be seen in one of the photos). These pavements are used by people who are going to/from the surgery and St Andrew's School, and selfish parking can deny access to them for wheelchairs and pushchairs, forcing their users to walk in the road. Unfortunately this is no longer a local GPs practice since it merged with the practice in Junction Road.
