Bowlditch lane flooded - again!

Reported via mobile in the Flooding of a road or pavement category anonymously at 08:08, Friday 9 February 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 5551680.

This needs fixing properly. Every time we have heavy rain it floods and is impassable. Two cars had broken down trying to cross yesterday. Also the run off flows down Crawl lane all the way to Clandown Bottom. This is damaging the road and is dangerous, especially when it freezes as it did in January. A proper drainage system needs to be put in, clearing the ditches in the farmland adjacent to the road.

  • I’ve tried to clear it with a bar but unfortunately the gully is clogged up with stone and hedge cuttings

  • This is what happens further down Crawl lane when it floods at the quarry. These were taken today from kitley Hill looking onto crawl lane and on the lane itself. It's dangerous and is destroying the road for about 3/4 of a mile down to the brook. Needs a proper fix

  • The position of the road gully on Clandown Road completely misses the rain water flow , it then carries on to Bowlditch lane making the flood deeper. When it fills it carries on down Clandown Road tearing up the tarmac. I’m quite sure if this was in Bath it would have been sorted by now, but because it’s out here in the countryside it’s ignored. People’s lives & vehicles are being seriously affected by this.
