Parking opposite entrance to Penn Lea Road
Reported via mobile in the Obstruction on road or pavement category anonymously at 15:05, Tuesday 20 February 2024
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 5605398.
Cars have started parking directly opposite the entrance to this Penn Lea (on Penn Hill Road). There are currently 6 cars parked in a row. It restricts viability for all. And with two (3?) schools located in the vicinity it is making hard for children crossing Penn Lea as they walk along Penn Hill Road. It is possibly a police issue but road markings might be needed here (although is a breach of the Highway Code so should be obvious!). Thanks for your help.

The reported problem has supposedly been fixed! Patently this is not true because vehicles are still parking inconsiderately and continuing to cause traffic problems. Please address the issue and don’t give false responses.

I'm the individual who initially flagged the parking issue on Penn Hill. My understanding is that the Traffic Regulation Order to enable yellow lines to be painted and enforced are going through a formal consultation process as required by legislation. The process should be completed soon.

Today there were more cars parked on verge opposite Penn Lea Road T Junction and almost double parked on either side of junction. Traffic building on both side to get through during school drop offs and pick ups with lots of school children trying to cross as well

The problem of cars parking for extended periods on both sides of Penn Hill Road at the junction with Penn Lea Road has still not been resolved many months since first reported. It has now reached the ridiculous point where vehicles are having to queue in both directions on Penn Hill Rd and also to exit Penn Lea Rd. This also affects the No 20 bus. This week there have even been two white vans parked on the verge of Penn Hill Road towards Weston Village. Signs were erected nearby some months ago stating that the situation was to be discussed at a subsequent council meeting in order to be resolve the problem. To date no action has been taken and the situation has now become urgent and dangerous. When can we expect the required double yellow lines to be painted in please?
