Blocked culvert

Reported via mobile in the Blocked drain: Blockage inside drain category anonymously at 10:31, Thursday 22 February 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 5614015.

This culvert has been blocked for some time. Every time there is heavy rain it floods the road and is washing the banks away. This almost certainly needs a camera through it to see the location and nature of the blockage. It’s getting progressively worse and is likely to cause a danger through flooding if not resolved.

  • This is the impact of the blocked drain.

The lane is currently under 3 feet of water which suggests significant risk.

  • By way of update, the blocked culvert now floods the lane with fairly small amounts of rainfall - please see pictures to understand how this is washing the banks away. In addition to this BANES are about to shut the causeway at Stanton Drew for bank repair works. When this happens Pensford Lane will be the only access for all of the houses in Tarnwell (c.50) if this lane is flooded there will be no exit access for residents, or potentially entry access for emergency vehicles.
