Pedestrian refuge: road markings need modification

Reported via desktop in the Dangerous road surface (including ice, mud, spillage or debris) category anonymously at 12:13, Sunday 3 March 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 5660449.

The A36 has a pedestrian refuge between the two carriageways, on the approach to the refuge from the east, for some distance, the westbound carriageway has a solid white line painted close to the gutter. This misleads people driving to believe that they can safely pass people on cycles at the refuge itself - where there is no road space. This morning 3/3/24 this has caused an injury accident. It would be good to remove the white line, remove the visually encouraging direction arrows that are within the refuge road space itself and apply current best practice 'Pinch point' markings at the pedestrian refuge.
