As a regular user of this bridge using a car (especially now the Stidham lane is safe to use) I have noticed pot holes go from nothing to 5 inches deep and very wide. They are very difficult to see especially for cyclists due to the glare change/shadow from the bridge. I met a lovely Highways Inspector who marked previous holes which were repaired that same day. However, atleast 4 or 5 more have appeared worse that the previous once since.
The pothole patching is vastly inadequate, as a new one opens up in a different place every other day. The surface does not suit the emmense heavy traffic being used by it. This is not their fault, they pay the correct taxes for it, BANEs need to hurry up and replace this surface area before anyone else is hurt. I would strongly recommend the recent fantastic surfacing done on Stidham lane, you should continue it under the bridge and onto Ashmead road.
It will cause serious harm to cyclists and must be resolved immediately, after many accidents just in the last couple of weeks.
Thanks,
