Raised paving stone is trip hazard and causing frequent accidents to pedestrians
Reported via desktop in the Pavement damage category anonymously at 16:38, Wednesday 17 April 2024
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 5866417.
Yesterday I was walking up Old Bond Street to the left of Sweet Little Things and fell headlong after tripping over an uneven paving stone which was sticking up a couple of inches. Workers in nearby shops told me several people trip over it every week and that it's been reported multiple times to the council who have said "it's not priority".. My face was scratched and grazed and my nose was bleeding profusely and I think I have concussion as a result. On return I found the slab ill-fitting and wobbly, with a corner projecting as an obvious trip hazard. I'm sure the staff in Sweet Little Things who came to my aid can show you exactly where it is.

Please note that I am a fit and healthy person with no mobility issues. If an elderly person fell over this trip hazard, they would like break bones or worse. I gather this patch of pavement was only relaid in January. I suggest it wasn't laid properly and needs urgent attention. It will take a workman very little time and cost the council very little to put it right. Falls are the most common cause of injury-related death in the elderly. Please fix this pavement before it kills someone.
