Water running from downpope on house goes nowhere

Reported via desktop in the Flooding of a road or pavement category anonymously at 10:41, Monday 22 April 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 5883526.

The water from our downpipe has nowhere to drain as there is no gully in the pavement and the drain is uphill from where we are, the water is pooling outside our house

  • Thanks for the info. A little more detail: The downpipe from our gutters puts the rainwater onto the pavement, but I think there should be a channel within the pavement so the water goes within the pavement rather than over it. The levels of the cobbled street have been getting a lot worse so that now the rainwater collects in quite deep puddles rather than running into the street drain.

  • Hello Drainage & flooding team,

This photo might help identify the problem: you can see that the downpipe lets the water on top of the pavement and you can see the depression where the water collects outside the two windows. It is most likely a cause of damp badly affecting the residence in the lower ground floor there. Please let me know when you have inspected the problem. Thanks
