Obstruction to double pram

Reported via mobile in the Obstruction on road or pavement category anonymously at 14:57, Saturday 27 April 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 5905722.

Please may this be forwarded to the relevant person,

My name is Bekki Aubrey, a mother of two whom lives in willow close, Odd Down.

I am writing in relation to the gap that connects Fosse Gardens, Sulis Meadows to Ridge Green Close, I have attached a photo, its the lower part of the footpath at the end of the steps.

I recently had my second baby and therefore, had to purchase a double pram due to my children both being under two. I frequently attend playgroups, shop at Sainsbury's and get the bus to local locations, which requires me to walk my pram through the gap mentioned above, this has been my way of walking since I moved to this area three years ago. As the longer route (pram accessible) is to walk along the whole of Sulis Manor Rd, along the main road A367 and down Mendip Gardens, I certainly don’t mind walking, but this is a significantly longer route with a toddler and a newborn.

Unfortunately, due to the size of the gap, I have had to use this longer route as my double pram does not fit through the gap. I believe this gap should allow access for double prams?

I am aware, that this may potentially be to stop bikes etc, but as a owner of a house in Willow Close, I am fully aware that this isn’t working, as we have recently had frequent visits from police in the area due to the motorbikes that regularly drive (a selection of them, very fast and irresponsibly) in the grass area behind our house.

I thought I would at least contact yourselves to see if there is any potential that something could be done to allow myself and others with double prams access through this gap, as it only falls short by the length of a wheel.

Yours sincerely, Bekki Aubrey
