Teenagers reinforcing previous bike ramps not fixed

Reported via iOS in the Park safety issue category anonymously at 14:35, Sunday 16 June 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 6113558.

I sent multiple previous reports but never received a response during 2020. This is council maintained land with private leases that we have permitted access to for the local public and is considered an important nature spot by owners and locals alike. At that time very substantial damage to the paths and ground was done by a group of teenagers who wanted to create a bike trail with very large homemade ramps. This was clearly a bad idea and was not granted permission (although they worked very hard on it). The ramps have been left in disrepair and not cleared. This presents a risk to young kids and animals as well as wildlife with large mountain bikes being used at speed downhill and on ramps in the wood. Recently a new group have seen the ramps and started “reinforcing” them to use again. This seems understandable as the original damage was never fixed they don’t know that this is not permitted use of the land or supposed to be here to begin with nor do they understand the risks of using high speed mountain bikes in small woodland areas open to the public. Can the council please clarify and hopefully correct the original damage to avoid these risks to local people, children and the woodland environment. The lessors have not permitted this usage nor would they be able to without risk assessment. This is a long-standing issue since 2020 that has now re-emerged.
