Main pond

Reported via mobile in the Park safety issue category anonymously at 15:41, Saturday 27 July 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 6283189.

Disgraceful. You hired a team to clean it and they've damaged it and it's drained so much all the ducks have left and the moorhens are unhappy. Council should be ashamed telling the public it's not a priority! It's a concrete city and we have little wildlife as it is.

Updates

  • We have become aware of a leak in the pond at Royal Victoria Park and are currently investigating whether there may be a tear within the lining of the pond. This may require a complete drainage of the pond to establish where the tear/leak is located, prior to undertaking any works to repair. A wet spring and summer has helped maintain the water levels and ecological impacts are minimal because there are no fish in the pond and ducklings have fledged.

  • The main pond in Victoria Park with no water. Who is responsible? I heard that finally - finally the waterfall would be renovated and would flow again. But then the situation deteriorated further. Now this end of the pond has no water. When is someone in the council who understands Victoria Park and how it was designed going to take over to rejuvenate it? Why not get a company to sponsor the refurbishment? Come on guys …… years are passing us by. Anything is better than this.
