Overgrown brambles in Kensington Meadow

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown vegetation in Council parks and green spaces category anonymously at 15:39, Wed 28 August 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 6408510.

I have reported that the brambles and the vegetation in Kensington Meadows are overgrown and untidy before. A park operative came to trimmed but he was disturbed by a female resident living in the area and consequently he stopped. Please ignore that resident and make the Kensigton meadows tidy for all the other residents.

Updates

  • The resident has called and reported that the brambles around the outside of Kensington Meadows are getting very out of control now, so please can this be attended as the vast majority of surrounding residents would be most grateful if around 2m of the brambles could be cut back around the edge of the meadows.

  • Resident call to report this is still causing an issue with brambles overgrown. A team visited briefly this morning with a digger but have now disappeared. They chopped a small amount and then disappeared. Please could you take another look and cut right back 2 metres all the way around? It's so overgrown and out of hand

  • We cut the brambles on a 3 year rotation in Kensington Meadows and have done the scheduled cut for this winter. We don't intend to cut all the brambles in one go as they are a good source of habitat for many creatures. It a considered managed approach to the nature emergency that we have found ourselves in.
