Ridiculously timed roadworks

Reported via mobile in the Obstruction on road or pavement category anonymously at 22:33, Tue 17 September 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 6483545.

With the closure of the A36 and the increase in traffic on Midford Road it is mind boggling that you gave permission to Wessex Water to dig up the road and put in a 4 way traffic system. The traffic tailbacks were horrific today. TOTAL MADNESS

  • What the hell !?!! Nothing is even happening in the 20x 10m rectangle you have guarded off with lights in Midford- 100s of cars, 1000s of people late- fumes pumping out- Why!?!

  • I echo the other comments on this website; with the A36 closed it should be obvious that the other artery roads into Bath should be kept as clear as possible. There are roadworks on Midford Hill causing miles of tailbacks, miles! Very poor planning on the part of the Council and thoroughly frustrating for anyone who has to commute into Bath.

  • We have looked into this issue and found it is not the council's responsibility. We have passed this report to the relevant party to take action.

  • This is utter stupidity!! A36 closed for months so how are workers expected to get to Bath ! Adding 45 minutes to a journey from Warminster!! Total journey time to Bath now one hour and 45 minutes!!! Ludicrous. The council should be ashamed. Midford roadworks is causing this .causing stress . Whichever genius decided to do this at this time should be fired .

  • Its the temp lights at coombe down which are adding to the traffic chaos ! with all roads to get to Midford area converging at the Esso garage double roundabout putting lights 250 yards away at the top of entry hill is sheer madness. 1.45 hours from newton st loe to midford lane this morning and coming the other direction backed up from A36 Branch road turning all the way to esso garage .!!
