Drains blocked and flooding Foundry Cottages

Reported via desktop in the Flooding of a road or pavement category anonymously at 16:04, Mon 23 September 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 6505632.

The two drains on Timsbury Road outside 1-4 Foundry Cottages are blocked with debris and are causing the road to flood the cottages (water is rushing like a stream next to number 1 and the gardens of the other cottages are being flooded). 1 Foundry Cottage is being seriously affected and will likely flood once the other cottages drains are full. I am concerned that this issue will lead to damage to my property and I will be forced to contact the council and request compensation.

There have been ongoing issues here for a number of years whenever there is heavy rainfall. There appears to be some sort of issue with the design of the flood management system/drainage as the drains never cope with the volume of water. We have had contractors working on the household drainage systems in the past who have mentioned there is an issue with the main pipework/drainage system. The water is being dealt with by household drainage systems rather than the highway drains. The amount of surface water present on the road is also causing our house (1 Foundry Cottages) to be constantly splashed with water which is causing damage to the wall.

Could someone please come and inspect this issue and advise on whether there is a long term solution to stop the flooding in this area?

  • This problem, reported in September has still not been addressed. The rain today (24 Nov) has resulted in the same flooding, as shown in the attached photos.
