Complaint Regarding Mud on [Highway/Road Upper Bristol Road] I am writing to bring to your attention a serious issue concerning the presence of mud on the Upper Bristol Road C A37, which I believe is being deposited by vehicles from a local farm. This situation has created hazardous driving conditions and poses a significant risk to motorists. I have observed that the road was deposited and covered in mud on Saturday 26th October ‘24. This mud an also been deposited along the pavement of this road . According to the Highways Act 1980, it is an offence to deposit mud on the highway that interrupts other users 1. Additionally, the presence of mud on the road can constitute a public nuisance and may result in civil action if it leads to personal injury or damage to property
I kindly request that the council take immediate action to address this issue. This may include: 1. Investigating the source of the mud and ensuring that the responsible parties are made aware of their legal obligations. 2. Requiring the farm to implement measures to prevent mud from being deposited on the road, such as cleaning vehicles before they leave the farm. 3. Installing warning signs to alert motorists of the potential hazard until the issue is resolved.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to your response. Ensuring the safety of all road users is of utmost importance, and I trust that appropriate steps will be taken to mitigate this hazard. Thank you for your cooperation.
Louise Morrison
