Dangerous road surface

Reported via desktop in the Potholes & road surface category anonymously at 15:41, Thursday 31 October 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 6680830.

Large sections of the road surface on the Holloway downhill from Magdalen Road are in extremely poor condition and dangerous particularly to cyclists and scooters who use this road frequently. Large areas of road surface have broken away leaving deep troughs. These are obscured to road users by leaves, and when it gets colder will attract ice. The exposed surfaces offer poor traction for motion or braking. This issue was reported some time ago but no action was taken and since then the area affected has widened and deteriorated significantly. The situation is made more dangerous by the frequency of pedestrian incursion onto the road, including from hidden side entrances.
