Dangerous leaning tree outside 129 Southdown Road

Reported via desktop in the Trees and woodland category anonymously at 10:30, Tue 17 December 2024

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 6871557.

A tree outside 129 Southdown Road on the footpath is dangerously leaning towards 129 Southdown Road which sways enormously during high winds. We were so concerned that it was going to fall during the recent storm. It’s overhangs the garden and during the recent storm - the falling branches damaged play equipment.

It has completely pushed out the curb which the Council removed & replaced with a blob of tarmac, that is also now being pushed out even further as it falls further towards the property.

I have raised this issue previously in terms of safety to children playing in the garden under the branches & the fact it could fall 129 Southdown Road at the next storm but last year only one branch was cut that was close to electrical lines and the pushed our curb replaced with tarmac. Please can this issue be looked into.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report. We are investigating this issue. Streetview shows the tree to have a lean at the same angle for 8 years or more which indicates the tree is in a stable condition.
