Over hanging branches becoming a preoblem.

Reported via mobile in the Fallen tree across road or pavement category anonymously at 18:50, Wed 29 January 2025

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7055005.

The tree's on Bath Road Farmborough are big and overhanging with the tree and branches look diseased and are easily snapping. Yesterday, (28/1) I was driving along the road between Herbert Gardens and Tilley Lane when a very large branch fell from the tree and narrowly missed my windscreen. It made a large bang on my roof then fell off the back of the car - thankfully nothing was behind me as this would have caused alot of damage to their car too. There was no wind or rain at the time. We have reported these trees before as they are in desperate need of cutting. This is not the first time we have seen large branches fall and it is becoming extremely dangerous. There is no doubt it would have shattered my windscreen causing injury to me and damage to my car if it had landed an inch or a second earlier. I have sent photographs of the branch that fell on my car (i pulled straight over to assess the damage and move the stick from the middle of the road and photograph) and of the trees in question, and it is obvious how brittle these large branches are when you see how many are scattered on the road, on the hedgerow and in the entrance to Herbert Gardens (BA20FE).

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting this issue. The trees here have recently been inspected and works recommended to prune branches overhanging the road. This is part of our winter works programme.
