.Urgent: Safety Concern – Bus Collision with Pedestrian Seating on Temple Street

Reported via mobile in the Bus stop or shelter issue category by kelly yeates at 13:13, Thu 20 March 2025

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7309592.

I am writing to formally raise a safety concern regarding the pedestrian seating area on Temple Street, Keynsham (BS31 1EH). On Thursday, 20th March 2025, at 10:06 AM, I witnessed a First Bus (potentially number 347) collide with the seating area directly opposite my business. The impact was loud enough that several local business owners came out to inspect the damage. Shockingly, the driver did not stop.

While fortunately, no one was seated there at the time, this incident highlights a serious risk. Given the location of the seating—on a busy high street road—it seems only a matter of time before a pedestrian, family, or young child is seriously injured in a similar event.

I urge the council to review the safety of this seating area as a matter of urgency. Whether this means relocating it, adding protective barriers, or re-evaluating traffic flow, action must be taken before a more severe accident occurs.

Please confirm receipt of this complaint and advise on what steps will be taken to address the issue.

  • Suggest relocating both seating areas to the pavement as it is wide enough to accommodate them and would address the safety issue.
