The pavement that leads onto the cycle path

Reported via mobile in the Potholes & road surface category anonymously at 14:42, Saturday 5 July 2025

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7813360.

Am writing to formally raise a serious safety concern regarding a hazardous lip in the pavement where it joins the cycle path near the roundabout.

This raised edge is not only poorly designed but dangerously abrupt. While cycling recently, I hit this lip and was thrown from my bike. As a direct result, I suffered significant injuries, including a broken hand and a knee injury. The incident was not due to speed or negligence – it was entirely caused by the unsafe transition from road to cycle path.

This part of the road infrastructure is not fit for purpose. A cycle path should be seamlessly integrated with the road surface, not designed in a way that endangers cyclists attempting to use it safely. This particular lip creates an unnecessary and dangerous hazard, especially for cyclists unfamiliar with the area or riding at low visibility times.

I urge the council to take immediate action to assess and remedy this section of road. It needs to be made level and safe for all users to prevent further accidents and potential legal liabilities.

Please confirm receipt of this complaint and advise me on the next steps being taken to address the issue.
