Large tree overhanging road

Reported via desktop in the Trees and woodland category by Matthew Want at 22:19, Saturday 5 July 2025

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7814631.

I have lived at 25 Lillington Road since September 2021 and this tree has become more of a nuisance year on year. I do not know what type of tree it is but it continues to grow out over Lillington Road from the council owned park at the rear of Radstock Town Football Club. During the autumn it sheds a very large number of leaves which fall onto Lillington Road and make the surface very slippery as they rot forming mulch and during recent storms large branches have fallen into the road and the tree visibly sways dangerously towards the houses on the other side of the road. Another side issue of this tree is the pigeons roosting in the tree defecate on the parked cars below causing damage to the paint. This could be rectified by the felling or simply trimming of the branches that protrude out over Lillington Road.

Updates

  • We have looked into this issue and found it is not the council's responsibility as the council do not own nor are responsible for the trees or land at this location. Please let the landowner responsible, most likely Radstock Town Council know instead. The report is now closed, further comments may not be monitored.
