Missing "No Dogs" signs at Claverton Rd play park
Reported via mobile in the Park safety issue category anonymously at 16:31, Tue 5 August 2025
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 7983455.
As can be seen a dog in my photo was running round the play park area today. Before confronting the owners I checked for signage but there is none. The owner pointed that out (no signage) but fortunately was reasonable about the situation and removed the dog. There were very young children and toddlers playing in the park, so the "No Dogs" signs that used to be in place need to be replaced, please.

Please note that new "No Dogs" signs have recently been installed on the nearby fenced-off sports/football field that is used by Saltford School, but the "No Dogs" signs for the separately fenced off play park area (with swings, climbing frames, slides etc.), that is used primarily by toddlers and younger children, are still not in place, hence the original report of the dog allowed to run loose in the play park and the signs not in situ (presumably not replaced when the new self closing entry/exit gates were installed). It would be appreciated if this matter could be rectified as soon as possible for health & safety reasons. Thank you.

As of today (2nd October) the "No Dogs" signs have still not been reinstalled on the gates to the children's play area (Claverton Road). On health & safety grounds it would be appreciated if this could be rectified without further delay. Thank you.

This has still not been rectified but is a matter of public safety for young children. Please return the NO DOGS signage as a matter of priority. Thank you.

This public health issue (Toxocariasis and aggressive dog attack risks for children) is still not rectified nearly 4 months after being reported. Please return the NO DOGS signs before the Christmas holiday period. Thank you.

I regret to say that the signs have still not been replaced. This public health issue (Toxocariasis and aggressive dog attack risks for children) is still not rectified nearly 5 months after being reported. Please return the NO DOGS signs without further delay. If an irresponsible dog owner allows a large and aggressive dog to run free in the restricted confines of the play area and attacks young children, any subsequent police inquiry is likely to question the lack of signage. Thank you.

The signage has finally been replaced with more informative new signs (see photo). Many thanks BaNES Council for getting this issue sorted out.
