Dangerous traffic island

Reported via desktop in the Railings, bollard, & post damage category anonymously at 00:38, Monday 13 October 2025

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 8286710.

The new traffic island at the junction with The Hollow and Kelston View was the scene of an accident late Sunday afternoon (12/10/25). That hill has always been dangerous in the low winter sun and it is impossible to see the traffic island and bollards once you pass a certain point. One car hit it, destroying the bollards. My car approached not long afterwards and I could barely see the damaged car once I got to the brow, so had no chance of seeing the island, with or without bollards. I am confident this is what caused the initial collision. It is pure luck that I was inching forward because of the accident in front of me or I would have torn the bottom of my car off. The council needs to do something to remedy this dangerous situation, ASAP

  • This is still a problem and a van has recently gone over what remains as not very visible without the bollards.
