The drain is sitting above the road level and water is bypassing

Reported via desktop in the Manhole & drain cover damage category anonymously at 13:47, Sunday 9 November 2025

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 8394713.

After rainfall, water does not empty down the drain as intended and instead is pooling beside the drain, eroding the tarmac and also running down the road - as seen in the photo taken last week. The drain is not full/overflowing. When we get frosts /low temperatures the water freezes making a really dangerous junction for cars/delivery vans coming down Bellhorse Lane directly onto West Harptree Hill and also for traffic entering Bellhorse Lane from Charleywell Lane. West Harptree Hill is an accident blackspot and traffic is frequently diverted up /down Weston/Ridge/ Bellhorse lanes. A request for a grit bin on the corner of Charleywell and Bellhorse to deal with water pooling and freezing in the winter was rejected by BANES earlier this year. Residents have to continue to wheelbarrow grit from Ridge Lane. I'd kindly like to request that the drain is at least fixed so that water goes down the drain to mitigate winter ice on the road.
