Keynsham bypass poor lighting
Reported via iOS in the Street light fault category anonymously at 23:02, Sunday
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 13 hours, 19 minutes later. Council ref: 8483986.
The A4 Keynsham Bypass is extremely dark between Hicks Gate and the Broadmead Roundabout. There are no street lights and no cat’s eyes or reflective studs along this stretch, which makes the road very difficult to navigate at night — especially in wet weather.
The worst section is the long curve near the location (what3words) “ears.gladiators.each”, where visibility drops to almost nothing. It’s hard to see the road alignment, and the lack of reference points makes lane-keeping unsafe at normal traffic speeds.
This route carries fast-moving traffic, and the current conditions create a real risk of collisions. Please assess the need for reinstating reflective studs or improving night-time visibility on this section.
