Water running across pavement - turns to ice in cold weather.

Reported via iOS in the Obstruction on road or pavement category anonymously at 12:01, Friday 9 January 2026

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 8656048.

You have advised me that you have dealt with this problem which I reported a few days ago. My view is that the ice has melted naturally and you have actually done nothing to prevent this from happening again. You are obviously expecting this to happen as the ice warning signs have been left in place. This problem occurs every time we have a really cold spell and has been going on for years. It would of course help if the drainage channel you installed a couple of years ago and the adjacent drains could be kept clear of debris to minimise the amount of water running across the pavement and in to the road. I appreciate that the water run-off is coming from the adjacent property which has been empty for some years now but nevertheless this continues to cause a very real safety issue for those of use using this pavement and also to motorists when the ice extends across the road which it has done on previous occasions. Attention to this matter would be appreciated by all.
