Road breaking up
Reported via mobile in the Potholes & road surface category anonymously at 12:16, Thursday 19 March 2026
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 9147002.
Cars blocking the single track lane, anything more than a small car has to drop off the side of the lane to get past. It's ruining the lane as well as the private drive opposite. I can't not drive over the private drive or the common with the tractor or lorry because of all the parked cars This issue has been going on for a couple of years now. The lane has been repaired in the past and it's now even worse. Can anything be done about the vehicles blocking the road? So we can actually drive on the tarmac lane and not off the edge/on the grass? This is the main access for multiple farms. Thank you

I have reported this several times over the last few years as by going off road it is causing damage to vehicles underbody and tyres. I’ve reported it this way and then get told this is a parking issue and I then report to parking and either get told nothing can be done or it gets ignored. This is causing many people problems. The ward councillor and chew stoke and Nempnett parish council spoke to the vehicle owners last year and the vehicle owners started parking on the common throughout spring and summer but as soon as summer was over they were back parking on the road again. A permanent fix /solution needs to be sorted out here, otherwise the vehicle owners will park back on the common over the next few months and then as soon as it gets wet again we will be back to square one. It’s not fair that we are being forced to drive through the broken road/off road risking damage to our own vehicles on a daily basis

Parking has resumed daily, obstructing the narrow lane and ruining the grass verge adjacent to Over Moreton. Sometimes, 6 cars are parked in a row, leaving barely enough room for a small car to pass. Anything larger has to drop off the tarmac into the long, deep rut which has been created, risking vehicle damage. The problem is worsening and will affect the many daily users of this stretch. A long term solution is needed. Presumably, the car owners are no longer using the common land immediately opposite because of the deep ruts and damage they caused last year!
