Three-cornered Garlic

Reported via mobile in the Overgrown vegetation in Council parks and green spaces category anonymously at 17:03, Saturday 11 April 2026

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 9276587.

Masses of Three-cornered Garlic (aka Three-cornered Leek). This species is listed on Schedule 9 of the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 (as amended) and has the same legal status as Japanese Knotweed. It is highly illegal to allow it to spread. Needs controlling immediately. It is within the bounds of Carr's Woodland Local Nature Reserve. If uncontrolled, it will take over a significant area of the reserve, to the detriment of native wildlife.

Hundreds of thousands of plants in wood on both sides of footpath. This is a prime example of why this plant is such a menace - very few native plants now grow in this part of the wood. If allowed to spread, it will quickly take over the rest of the nature reserve.
