A new traditional light ( 021) Pitfour Terrace / High St. Timsbury

The new light, fiitted 2 days ago is very nice but is far too bright. It is dazzling / blinding in my living room and kitchen like a football spotlight and l can't sit at one end of my sofa! I have the same double windows upstairs but the light is much softer and tinted yellow fortunately, to protect bedrooms? 2 houses across the rd have the same problem like they are under a spotlight Can you reduce it in some way please. I currently do not have curtains but don't think this would make much difference.

Updates

  • Whilst the new street light at the junction of the High Street / The Avenue is aesthetically pleasing, unfortunately not only is it much, much taller than its predecessor but far brighter. The light now shines directly into the principal rooms at the front of my house. The previous street light projected light downwards and did not cause the intrusion the new one does. Additionally where the light is far taller the LED lighting strip (as seen reflected in the last photo) points directly into the main bedroom. Since installation this light has prevented sleep, not helped by the fact that despite this being a village the light is on throughout the night! It has only just gone off 😞 Please - and surely - something can be done to rectify this? I have additional photos of the light nuisance from within my house should these be required.

We are happy to assist and can confirm that we have contacted the manufacturer of the lantern for confirmation of the available shielding options. We are currently awaiting their response.

Regarding the dimming of the lantern, we confirm that for newly installed lanterns, the dimming programme can take a few days to register and begin operating correctly.

  • In addition to the above, we asked our contractors to attend site today and fit a shield. They confirm they fitted a side shield to the lantern, which we hope will help reduce the brightness for you.

We hope this has provided some improvement, but please note this is only a temporary measure while we work towards a permanent solution.

If you would like to add further comments or photos here please do so we know if the shield has been of any benefit.

Thank you for your patience in this matter.
