Dangerous concealed entrance, garages between Harcourt Gardens and Eastfield Avenue.
Reported via desktop in the Vegetation overhanging a road or pavement from private land or property category anonymously at 16:06, Saturday 16 May 2026
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 1 day, 15 hours, 52 minutes later. Council ref: 9462308.
Due to the significant increase in traffic along High Street, exiting these garages has become increasingly hazardous. Visibility of approaching vehicles is severely restricted by the wall, meaning drivers cannot see oncoming traffic until the front of the vehicle is already protruding into the carriageway. Likewise, approaching road users have little or no visibility of vehicles emerging from the garages. This presents a particular danger to cyclists travelling close to the kerb, who may be especially vulnerable to a vehicle slowly edging into the road. To improve safety at this location, I would request the installation of a convex safety mirror to assist drivers exiting the garages, together with appropriate warning signage, such as a “Concealed Entrance” sign, to alert approaching motorists and cyclists to the hazard.
