Cooks Hill road closure

Reported via desktop in the Obstruction on road or pavement category anonymously at 15:21, Wednesday 20 May 2026

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 9482801.

There is a planned road closure for Cooks Hill and the Mead in Clutton planned for next week and the diversion/ alternative route is via Lower Bristol Road in Clutton. This is a single track road which is not suitable for HGV's or any significant increase in traffic as it will the only access to any part of the village below the Mead. What restrictions on HGV's, large vehicles and any traffic control plus the extension of the 20MPH speed limit will be imposed and strictly enforced along the entire length of Lower Bristol Road?

  • Thank you for your enquiry. After speaking with our Street Works team, we have agreed to amend the diversion for this closure to travel via Cooks Hill (remainder) – Station Road – Greenbrook – Clutton Hill – Flatts Lane – Cross Ways – A39 – A37 – Cooks Hill and therefore avoiding Lower Bristol Road.
