Pavement flooded and a hazard to pedestrians

Reported via desktop in the Flooding of a road or pavement category by Amanda Cooper at 12:01, Tuesday 9 June 2026

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 9587338.

The ridiculous road works and traffic lights along the Bath Road in Saltford are forcing pedestrians to cross the road multiple times to use unsuitable pathways. After this morning's heavy rain this caused a dangerous hazard. My daughter was walking to the bus stop and was required to cross the road outside Flourish and walk along the pavement towards Saltford as instructed by the signs. She walked a few hundred yards and the pavement then narrows and is only suitable for single file, there was a huge puddle in the road and passing motorist have no choice other than to drive through this due the the road narrowing meaning pedestrians get caught in the residual dirty water that is splashed up. My daughter and others were soaked due to the heavy traffic at that time and she was required to return home to change clothing. This part of the pavement is not wide enough to take the foot traffic and it is very likely that someone will walk into to road, which is an obviously safety concern, especially with the number of cyclist that will be using that path during the school run. It is an accident waiting to happen. I understand that these roadworks will be in place for another month, so something must be done around the safety of members of the public before something serious happens.
