Very overgrown grass/weeds

Reported via mobile in the Overgrown vegetation in Council parks and green spaces category anonymously at 10:36, Wednesday 1 July 2026

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 9714092.

Please can the overgrown grass/weeds be cut or strimmed around all the trees and shrubs. There are 4 or 5 areas that are really overgrown and causing lots of problems for our dogs. These overgrown areas are harbouring grass seeds which are getting into dogs ears, feet, causing very high vet bills. These areas are never cut by you just left its disgracefull. Needs cutting now.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report and for sharing your concerns about the impact the long grass may be having on dogs in the area. The Council have committed to help tackle the Climate and Ecological Emergency and the grass around the trees is left long to help retain moisture in the soil and protect the trees from damage caused by mowing and strimming. It also provides valuable habitat for wildlife. Other areas in Brickfields Park are maintained for amenity purposes with the grass cut on a more regular basis, allowing space for walking and playing. You can find out more about our maintenance schedules and read more about what we are doing for the Climate and Ecological Emergency on our website. https://www.bathnes.gov.uk/ grass-maintenance Your concerns have been logged and the feedback will help us review how we manage our parks and green spaces for the benefit of both wildlife and the local community.
